Jenni Camarena is a passionate credit recovery teacher at a continuation high school in Anaheim, California, where she helps re-engage students through hands-on learning and relationship-centered support. She mainly serves justice-impacted students as well as those needing additional mental health support. Now in her 17th year in education, Jenni began her teaching journey in Metro East Illinois near St. Louis before relocating to Orange County, California in 2014 with her husband. She brings a strong background as a special education teacher and reading specialist and holds an administrative credential, as well.
Jenni grew up in small town Southern Illinois. She earned her bachelor’s degree in special education from Southern Illinois University, a master’s degree in reading education from Greenville College, and second Master's degree in educational administration. She is currently pursuing her doctorate in education through Concordia University with a focus on educational organizational change.
Outside of the classroom, Jenni is a proud mom to five-year-old twins and has been married for 16 years to her husband Manuel, a school and clinical psychologist. She now spends her free time as a sports mom (wrestling, soccer, gymnastics, softball, and basketball!) If she ever finds time for herself, she loves running, lifting weights, collecting sneakers and enjoying good food.
